The Magic of the Notes App
How I use the notes app on my phone to save my sanity and my marriage
I am fascinated by how people use their phones. Their inboxes, their apps, how they’re organizing things—literally show me all of it. (I also firmly believe that that little red notification number on your email and text inbox will tell me as much about you as your enneagram number will.) My phone can be a chaotic place, to be honest with you. I would bet good money that my little red numbers are higher than yours. 🙈 But one place that is NOT chaotic is my notes app.
A few years ago, I started *actually* using the notes app on my phone (and changed the way I use it). Now, it’s an extension of my brain—neatly color-coded and complete with a search bar. It also has been a huge help in the relationship department because did you know that your spouse actually can’t read your mind? I didn’t know that for the longest time. But it turns out—stay with me here—that just because YOUR brain wheels are spinning doesn’t mean your spouse knows that. Having shared notes literally helps share the mental load which I have found to be immensely helpful for us.
A major disclaimer before we dive in: I am a paper person to my core. You know this—I’m a literal marketing director for a paper planner company. So paper lists will always be my go-to. But some things just make sense digitally. Your phone is with you at all times, it’s searchable, everything stays in one place and nothing gets accidentally thrown away 😅. Plus you can share with family members, which is a game-changer.
